MACSima is a revolutionary 3D imaging platform developed by Miltenyi Biotec, combining hyperplex staining with an automated image acquisition and analysis system.
It is designed for highly multiplexed microscopy, enabling in-depth and detailed analysis of the expression of over 150 proteins on a single tissue section or cell sample. This system is based on the patented MACSima Imaging Cyclic Staining (MICS) technology, offering unprecedented capacity to simultaneously examine hundreds of markers on a single sample.
The system is based on the REAfinity technology, which employs standardized recombinant antibodies to ensure high specificity and reproducibility of results, while reducing background noise thanks to the absence of secondary antibodies. A catalog of over 600 biomarkers is available, along with the option to design custom panels.
MACSima combines advanced fluorescence microscopy capable of detecting signals at the subcellular level, with spatial and functional analysis enabled by repeated imaging on a single sample. The platform is fully automated for staining, image acquisition, and data processing. It is compatible with all types of fixed samples, including paraffin-embedded tissues (FFPE), fresh or frozen sections, cells in suspension, and organoids.
Data analysis is automated through the MACS iQ View software, which allows for quantitative fluorescence analysis, spatial mapping of proteins and RNA in complex structures, as well as precise identification of cell types and their interactions, enabling rapid generation of publication-ready results.
By combining automation, precision, and multiplexing, the MACSima platform provides an integrated and comprehensive view of biological processes at the molecular level. This makes it an essential tool for exploring the complexity of tissues and cells in various research contexts.

The LUNA FL cell counter enables fast, efficient and reproducible counting of cells and nuclei.
Cell counting is performed by image analysis: the sample can be stained with erythrosine B, trypan blue or fluorescently labeled with acridine orange and propidium iodide, then placed on a specific slide for visualization and cell counting under white light or florescence.
The LUNA FL can be used to determine the percentage of living and dead cells, as well as for fine analysis of cell aggregates (% of single, double or triple cells), and generates histograms of cell size distribution.

The Chromium iX, based on NextGEM technology, is a microfluidic instrument for isolating cells or cell nuclei from a suspension (biological sample) in order to carry out transcriptomics, proteomics and/or epigenetics analyzes by NGS at the scale of single cells or nuclei.
Possible and non-exhaustive analyzes using the instrument :
- Gene expression on single cells or nuclei (Single Cell Gene Expression) on all types of fresh cells, or on human and murine cells fixed with 4% PFA
- Characterization of accessible regions of chromatin (ATAC) at the scale of single nuclei, possible in combination with gene expression on cells or single nuclei
- Amplification of VDJ sequences of fresh human and murine T and B lymphocytes in order to carry out immune profiling of the organisms studied, at the scale of single cells
The Chromium iX can isolate cells/nuclei from 1 to 8 samples per run, and allows the simultaneous analysis of 500 to 80,000 unique cells or nuclei (up to 160,000 cells using multiplexing). The capture rate is a maximum of 65% and the multiplet rate is 0.8% for 1000 cells.
