The TapeStation 4200 allows for the automatic analysis of nucleic acids (DNA and RNA) by electrophoresis, simultaneously and automatically determining the size, quality (contaminants), and concentration of samples. Sample migration is performed in "ScreenTape," single-use cartridges that are specific to the type of sample (DNA, RNA) and the desired sensitivity level.
The process involves depositing or mixing 1 µl (or 2 µl for High Sensitivity ScreenTape) of the sample with the migration buffer in 0.2 ml tubes or skirted 96-well plates. The migration is then carried out on ready-to-use, miniaturized gels, capable of processing from 1 to 96 samples simultaneously at a constant cost and in less than 2 minutes per sample.
